Expertise: Ventilation & air cleaning strategies for better IAQ in educational environments
Background:
Erica Ding is a postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment of TU Delft. Her research focuses on improving indoor air quality (IAQ) in educational environments by developing and evaluating ventilation and air cleaning strategies, both at individual and broader scales.
Erica obtained her PhD from TU Delft in 2025. Her doctoral research comprised several projects characterized by interdisciplinary collaboration and societal relevance during the COVID-19 pandemic, as commissioned by Dutch national organizations, including Ministerie OCW and ZonMw.
Erica has a multidisciplinary academic background spanning thermal engineering and building science & technology. Her research experience also covers diverse topics in the indoor environmental quality (IEQ) field, with a common focus on improving health, comfort, and sustainability in the built environment.
