Clean Air Matters: MIST awareness video released

27 March 2025
The MIST Project is proud to announce the release of its educational awareness video highlighting the importance of indoor air quality in preventing the spread of airborne infections.

About the video
This short, narrative-style educational film was developed to make the science behind airborne transmission more accessible to a broad audience. Produced by Oculus Film, the video blends storytelling with scientific messaging to demonstrate the real-world relevance of clean air. Special attention was paid to clarity, ensuring that the final slides clearly summarise the core messages with adequate screen time for reflection.

The importance of clean air and understanding transmission
Our awareness video emphasizes two key aspects of airborne infection control:

  • Understanding transmission: Respiratory infections can spread through pathogen-containing aerosols. According to the World Health Organization, well-designed and well-maintained building systems can significantly reduce this risk through ventilation with outdoor air, combined with filtration or disinfection of recirculated air (WHO Ventilation Roadmap, 2021).

  • The importance of clean air:  Clean air matters: Ensuring adequate ventilation and air cleaning is crucial to maintaining healthy indoor environments. While ventilation helps reduce background aerosol levels, it is also important to note that close-contact transmission can be mitigated with additional measures such as mask-wearing.

Educational purpose
The information presented in this video is meant for educational purposes. It was created to raise general awareness about the importance of indoor air quality. To optimize the air in real-life spaces, always ask for advice from professionals in occupational health or building installations.
