Maaike Sikkink

PhD at University of Twente
Expertise: Maaike enjoys combining the fields of chemical engineering, fluid dynamics and microfluidics. She likes to challenge current paradigms and believes that academic success is built upon collaboration with colleagues from other expertise areas. Furthermore, she finds here herself often on the organizing side of projects.
Background:
Maaike Sikkink holds a Bsc and Msc in Process and Chemical Engineering from the University of Twente. After graduating she worked for 5 years as a process engineering in a chemical production facility. Currently, Maaike is a PhD candidate in the group of Rob Lammertink (Soft Matter, Fluidics and Interfaces, UT). She will focus on the fundamental analysis of the filtration of aerosols on meso-scale. The focus will be on visualizing experimentally aerosol concentration profiles within different types of filters.
