Twan van Hooff

Associate Professor at Eindhoven University of Technology
Expertise: ventilation flows, computational fluid dynamics, experiments
Background:
Twan van Hooff is an Associate Professor in Building Ventilation in the Building Physics research group of the Unit Building Physics and Services (BPS) in the Department of the Built Environment at TU/e, and chairman of the Unit BPS since 2021. Twan studied Building Physics at TU/e and obtained his PhD at both TU/e (cum laude) and KU Leuven in 2012. His areas of expertise include the experimental modeling and numerical simulation of indoor and outdoor airflows in the built environment, including related heat and mass transfer processes, with the overall aim to provide healthy, comfortable and energy-efficient buildings and other enclosures. His research topics cover, among other things, building and room ventilation, natural ventilation, computational fluid dynamics for the built environment, pedestrian-level wind comfort, pollutant dispersion.
